Koi Pond Aeration Kit, For Ponds from 2000-8000 gallons Review

Koi Pond Aeration Kit, For Ponds from 2000-8000 gallons
Average Reviews:

I have considered aeration for a long time for my koi pond. During the summer months (in So Cal), our waterfall doesn't provide enough oxygen. This is an easy to install solution that provides a BUNCH of aeration, which in addition to helping the fish, it clarifies the water tremendously. My pond is 3600 gallons and only 3.5 feet deep, so I had to do a slight rework of the aerator head, as it was putting too much air in one place (in a deeper pond it may have been fine). I split the 2 aerator heads by using the excess hose that comes with the unit and a few extra parts. This is the perfect size unit for our size pond. Very satisfied so far. Also happy with the low electricity usage.

I love the turn on and off switch without the bells and whistles. I also have hard water, but we use distilled/purified or spring bottled water in the maker - so their is not the build up of lime in the structure. Easy to clean with vinegar. Simple model, we keep it unplugged after it's done to prevent it from overheating (if in case it ever did) - then it lasts a bit longer. Of course we find the 12 cup only equates to about 4 of our mug sizes - but then, it's good for it's size.

Reliable Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop Review

Reliable Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop
Average Reviews:

Halleluia! When my Bissell Steam Mop finally 'died' and I found out they didn't make them anymore I was devastated. The only place I found to buy them was ebay at a whopping $250! Anyway, I searched online for other models and read all their reviews. None of the reviews for other products sounded any where near the quality and hard work of my old Bissell. I saw this model (The Steamboy) and it looked similar to the Bissell, however - nobody had written a review, so I was a little skeptical.
I'm here to tell ya - this product is as good or, dare I say, even better - than the Bissell for several reasons: 1. it is lighter weight (but not flimsy) so my arms don't get tired 2. the head pivots easier and it is triangular in shape so it gets into the nasty corners under my kitchen counters and behind my toilets even better 3. the pads are easier to put on than the Bissell and the draw string to tighten them on is longer and therefore easier to work with and lastly 4. it has a carry handle and doesn't fall over when standing upright as my old Bissell did. Cons are 1. you have to make sure that the tank is all the way in or it is a little drippy 2. the cord could be longer, but I can't remember the Bissell's being any longer than this one.
So, if you want to replace your Bissell or give one as a gift this is definately an affordable option. If you've never used a steam mop, you will be amazed - and disgusted - by how clean your floors get and realize how dirty they REALLY were all those years when you used the ol' mop and bucket. This is faster too and requires no chemicals to clean!

Capresso 455 CoffeeTEAM Therm Stainless Coffeemaker/Burr Grinder Combination Review

Capresso 455 CoffeeTEAM Therm Stainless Coffeemaker/Burr Grinder Combination
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have to say, I'm more than a little confused by the negative feedback this coffee maker seems to be receiving as we've had quite the opposite experience with it-- in fact, we've been nothing short of ecstatic with its functioning. It's a bit counterintuitive at first, but once you get a feel for its system, this is a nice little pot.
My wife and I were committed to buying a suit-all-our-needs coffee maker right after our wedding, and after substantial research, we came up with this unit.
After witnessing my brother and his wife with their grinder/brewer combination, I was filled with envy-- I hate grinding coffee. The CoffeeTEAM combines a burr grinder with the brewer, grinding into a filter basket (with an included conical permenant coffee filter) on a spring mechanism which then swings to allow hot water to be forced through the beans.
Both the beans and water are top loaded into their chambers-- the bean chamber holds enough for about 18 cups of coffee, the water reservoir holds enough for 10 cups and has a cover that flips up that rests on top of the filter basket when it's used for brewing.
The grinder has a handful of sizes you can adjust the grind to-- I've kept mine fairly large as I've been using fairly oily coffee. The beans are ground and deposited into this little chamber. This next triggers a series of springs that push the grounds into the filter basket and swings the basket to receive water.
A few points about this process-- some residual beans are left in the little chamber after the grinding. These are used for the next pot of coffee-- I discovered early on if you clean this out, the next pot will be noticably weak (they warn you the first pot will be weak in the manual, but forget to mention this-- I suspect this is why one of the other reviewers had trouble with coffee being too weak). There's a thin piece of hard plastic with a rubber washer in the middle that fits over the top of the filter basket-- this MUST be fitted evenly and the rubber washer MUST be snugly attached. Additionally, the water reservoir must be down when you push the basket to the grinder. Not doing any of these will result in the spring mechanism not swinging the basket properly-- it took me a few tries to get this right, but there was no mess made and it was more a learning curve than anything else (the good news is that if the basket doesn't swing back, a fail-safe stops the brewing process).
The coffee is brewed into a thermal carafe which must be lined up carefully to prevent spillage-- I've yet to have this spill due to line up problems and I'm pretty impatient, it's not a hard process. We haven't tested to see how long it keeps coffee hot for, but it's at least 3-4 hours. My wife takes her coffee a couple hours after brewing and has no complaints about temperature or degraded taste.
Controls are pretty straight forward, there's two buttons and a knob that serves as a third button. The knob is used to program everything-- for both on-demand and timer-triggered brewing you can set number of cups to brew and strength, the clock, and the time to kick off brewing. The top button starts the brewing process immediately, the bottom button sets the timer-trigger brewing.
You can override the grinding by not swinging the filter basket over in case you want flavored beans, etc. I've not done this. Additionally, removing the carafe during brewing allows you to pour yourself a cup from the carafe, saving those goofy slide-the-carafe-out-and-cup-in games. I just revised my review concerning this functionality as I used it for the first time this morning-- it is flawless-- carafe comes out, coffee stops, carafe goes back in, coffee restarts. Finally, the last feature of the coffee pot is a "descale" warning to indicate when you need to clean the coffee pot. In a previous review, I said this was missing, but it just came on for our maker.
All the coffee we've made tastes superb-- admittedly, I've been starting with good beans, first what we brought back from our honeymoon in Hawai'i and then from a favorite coffeehouse near where I grew up, but it's as good as any coffeemaker I've used.
Cleanup has been pretty easy so far-- we've had the maker maybe six weeks and the carafe has a wide mouth when you remove the lid so it's easy to clean (something I've hated in other carafes). The filter basket and associated components all come out and are easy to wash. I do wish the bean container could be removed, but so far, I've just been wiping oil deposits down per recommendations. The burrs are not accessible, so there's no way to clean then other than grinding no beans per recommendations.
Things I wish the maker had: a large bean container-- I'd love to have a unit that could just fit a half pound or a pound of beans-- I'm constantly having to pour more beans into it. This is a minor annoyance. Somewhat more lacking is a water filter-- my last coffee maker had this and it was a nice feature-- I've gotten around this by pouring filtered water into it, so again this is a small complaint.
None of these shortcomings are big enough to make me regret purchasing the unit, even at its price, it's served us well for the past several weeks and the coffee it makes it consistently fantastic.

I have purchased (and agrily returned) four of these products. The reason I've been angry is the same as the rest of the reviewers....great product which makes great coffee but leaks! I finally removed the glass container from the unit, cleaned off the cheap silicone that they use to seal it to the heating element, and re-sealed it with a high-temp gasket maker that I purchased from a auto parts store. NO MORE LEAKING!!! If Chef's Choice would simply use a better silicone sealer, this product would fly off the shelves. I've been using my new and improved press for 6 months now with no problems.

French press or plunge pot coffeemakers have gained popularity with the recent interest in gourmet coffee and coffee products. Fans of this brewing method insist it results in a richer, less bitter, flavor than the typical electric coffeemaker. Many however were somewhat put off by the idea of pouring boiling water into a glass pot. This convenient machine boils the water right in the pot. All you do is add coffee when the water's the correct temperature and insert the plunger when brewing is done. In addition to its brewing virtues, this pot has a decidedly elegant European presence at table.

DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Pump-Driven 35 ounce Espresso Maker Review

DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Pump-Driven 35 ounce Espresso Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Despairing of ever finding decent espresso in the Midwest, I finally broke down and decided to get a home espresso machine. I had worked as a barrista, and had sipped espresso in Italy, so I had some idea of how it should taste.
Being relatively poor, I wanted a machine that would deliver a decent espresso, at a decent price. Though I was willing to consider a system with proprietary coffee pods (K-cups, Tassimo, etc), it would have to be cheap enough that I wouldn't mind shelling out the extra bucks for the coffee itself. And I also wanted to make sure that it was pump-driven, not steam-driven.
After checking reviews and looking around, I finally settled on the DeLonghi BAR32. It's a pump-driven maker, not steam driven, so it's not scorching the grounds as it brews. And it comes with a single and a double espresso filter.
The DeLonghi uses either ground espresso, or E.S.E. espresso pods. The E.S.E. pods are not proprietary - any company can make them. The DeLonghi comes with a package of 18 Illy pods (retail - $12). The pods are convenient, but still expensive.
I've had the espresso maker for several days, and I'm happy with it so far. With the pods, it pulls a good single espresso with a satisfactory crema. Sugar floats on top of the crema for about 2-3 seconds, and it has a nice golden color. The espresso tastes very smooth.
Pulling a good single espresso, either with the pods or loose coffee, is pretty easy. Use the pods as a good judge of how tightly to pack the grounds in the filter. Use a level, loosely packed scoop of coffee for a single shot.
Pulling a good double, on the other hand, still eludes me. The best I've come up with is to use 2 scoops, 3/4 full and loosely packed, and pressed looser than for a single. Even then, it still dribbles out slowly, with a less-than-satisfactory (though present) crema.
The steam wand works very well. I've made several excellent cappuccinos and lattes with it. It's a little cramped to use, so I pull mine to the edge of the counter so that I can get a good mug under it. I steam straight into the mug of milk, and then add the espresso. Make sure to blow some steam through it to clear out condensation before putting it in your milk. Start with the steam wand nearly submerged in the milk, and then slowly pull it out (lower the mug) until you hear a gentle "sipping" sound. That means that it's frothing. If you see noticeable bubbles on top of the milk, that means you've pulled it out too far - dip it back in slowly and you should be able to whip the bubbles into froth. Once the froth is just below the level you want it, submerge the wand back into the milk to finish heating it. Listen again - once the milk starts to sound "hollow," it's nearly hot enough. Let it go for a few more seconds, then shut off the steam, and remove the mug. The wand will drip a bit, so put it over the drip tray or an empty mug.
Making espresso is fairly easy. Turn the machine to "Heat" to start heating the water and priming the pump. Make sure the filter holder is screwed into the machine. Once the "Hot" light comes on, run an espresso cycle without coffee into the cup you'll use - pulling espresso into a cold cup will ruin the flavor. Fill the cup half-way with hot water, and turn the machine back to "Heat." Empty and quickly dry the espresso cup. Put the E.S.E. pod or ground espresso into the filter (tamp down the loose espresso) and twist it into the machine. Turn the machine on, and wait until you've got your cup of espresso. A single espresso should be 30-40ml, or 1-1.5oz. I used a measuring cup to see what that looked like in my demitasse cups.
Looking back over what I've written, I suppose I do make it look a little complicated. And it is a little bit more complicated that popping the K-cup into the machine, and hitting "Go." But it really is pretty easy, and less than 5 minutes pass between "You know, I could go for a cappuccino," and "Man, that's a tasty cappuccino."
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Good pressure
- Easy to make a good single shot of espresso
- Uses pods or loose grounds
- 2 dials + 0 buttons = easy to use
- Outstanding steam wand
- 32oz water reservoir lets you make 3 or 4 cappuccinos, or 6 to 8 espressos, without refilling
- Built-in tamper means one less part to lose
- Pre-heat cycle helps make good espresso
Cons:
- Hard to make a good double espresso (might just be me)
- Steam wand leaks slightly (usually at the start of a brewing cycle - I just keep mine over the drip tray)In the end, the machine makes a good espresso, especially for the price, but remember that you're not going to be running a coffee shop with it. I definitely recommend it for anybody who wants to make their own espresso, but wants to do it for under $200.

I have been looking at canister vacs for a long time. I bought one, hated it (the floor attachment kept falling off, the filter kept clogging), and ended up returning it. I am pleasantly surprised by this little machine...the suction is great, it's not too loud, doesn't clog, and it's lightweight. Plus the price is right!! I was looking into getting a miele until I found this. I use this at my vacation home (a 60 year old ranch home that produces a LOT of dust) where all the floors are hardwood or tile and I have an area rug. The vac works fairly well on the area rug, too. The handle feels much more solid than the previous machine I had and doesn't fall apart. And I actually prefer the bag to the bagless version I previously had. It is so much easier to change the bag than pull out a canister and have dust flying everywhere. I highly recommend this for someone who has a lot of hardwood floors and wants to get up ALL the dust on the floors, in the corners, under the sofas!!!

I've had this air purifier for about 2 years and just recently noticed the UV bulb had burned out. I could really tell the difference in the mold count in my apartment!
Mine is black and blends nicely next to my nightstand. I keep it on in auto mode anytime I'm home. It'll kick on a higher speed if it detects dust, odors, etc. The lowest setting is a nice white-noise level for sleeping. It's really low maintenance. I vacuum off the pre-filter and hepa every few weeks. I'd recommend you order an extra UV bulb, so you don't have to wait for replacement.
The only trouble I had with it was right out of the box, one of the clips that holds the cover on was broken. It doesn't need it to operate, so I didn't worry about it.

I purchased a capresso coffemaker in the 1990's and loved it. However it was used so much that it wore out. It lasted about 10 years. However I could never find one to replace it that I liked. Well now Capresso has finally come up with a model that is better than the one I used to own. It makes a wonderful HOT cup of coffee and it tastes so great! It's very easy to use, especially filling the tank and I just love it. Thank you Capresso.

Brew up to 10 cups of delicious, full-flavored coffee in under eight minutes with this programmable coffeemaker. The machine provides an illuminated, 24-hour, LCD digital clock and timer with soft-touch controls for easy operation. Set the timer so that fresh, hot coffee awaits dinner guests when it's time to serve dessert or so that the aroma of a freshly brewed pot fills the house a few minutes before the alarm goes off in the morning. The coffeemaker supplies a 10-cup glass carafe with an ergonomic stay-cool handle, brew-through lid, and drip-free pouring spout. Removing the carafe from the coffeemaker stops the flow of coffee and allows for sneaking a quick cup before the end of the brewing process. Simply replace the carafe to restart the flow of coffee. Another thoughtful detail includes its special smaller-amount setting, which ensures maximum aroma when brewing just 3 to 5 cups at a time. For added convenience, the coffeemaker features a stainless-steel-lined heating system that eliminates contact with aluminum and reduces the need for decalcifying, the ability to retain programming during short power outages, and automatic shut-off after two hours for safety and peace of mind. Other highlights include a handy water-level indicator, a washable gold-tone filter (no need for disposable paper filters), a charcoal water filter that removes up to 82-percent of chlorine and other impurities from tap water, and an electronic indicator that shows when to replace the charcoal filter, as well as milled steel housing for superior strength and style and concealed cord storage to keep countertops looking tidy. Been using this humidifier for about 2 weeks now, and while it is stylish, and very very quiet, and keeps my one bedroom condo at a comfortable humidity level.
The amount of white dust it produces is rather irksome, even with the filters it produces alot of white dust, fortunatley most of it seems to collect on my TV so I just wipe that down a couple times a day.. You could use distilled water to eliminate it, but I go through about 4 gallons of water a day, so thats alot of distilled water.
I also do not like how there is no humidity gauge, so you can't set it to shut off when it gets to a certain level of humidity.

Krups KM4065 12-Cup Stainless-Steel Coffeemaker
This review is for the Krups KM 4065 coffeemaker. I believe this is the first of a new line of coffeemakers designed Bjorn Dahlstrom. At the moment, this coffeemaker is not on the Krups website and there is little information available on the web. I've only had it for a couple of days so here are my initial thoughts.
Pros:
1. Looks fantastic
2. Seems reasonably well built and the top door opens and closes smoothly
3. This has a different water gauge from the FM series and it works well and is easy to read (no bubbles).
4. I've filled the reservoir from both a Brita pitcher and from the included carafe without spillage. (That said the fill area is at the back near the door hinge)
5. Uses #4 Filters
6. Makes a great cup of coffee
7. The included carafe pours well
Cons:
1. Pricey for a unit without a thermal carafe
2. Programming is non-intuitive and a little frustrating
3. Manual could be a lot better
4. Like most stainless steel appliances, fingerprints may be an issue if you are not careful
5. Durability of main button to open top lid remains to be determined
6. Carafe seems a little light and the cover flimsy
Overall, I am very pleased with this beautiful coffeemaker. It looks like the design changes have addressed the water gauge issue with the FM series and so far I've had no leaks. The carafe works well so coffee spillage is not a problem and most importantly my initial experience is that this machine makes good coffee.
I have deducted one star due to the fact I've only had it 2 days and can't attest to the long-term durability of the unit and it is a little pricey compared to competing units.

I have linoleum, and the H3044 did a fine job. The cleaning solution was pretty filthy when I poured it out after use, both satisfying and repulsive at the same time! It seems that this is a new Hoover model (July 2007), which explains why there are not a lot of reviews to be found online. I wish it could use Pine-Sol, because I have a Costco-sized jug of that stuff on hand already. Will vinegar/water mix work? I have no idea. I don't see why not. I guess the fear is that the gaskets will fail if solvents are used. Guess I'll stick to the Hoover stuff for now. Anyways, it scrubbed my floors quite well, even though they're a bit uneven/warped. The vacuum is great at picking the solution back up. Hope that helps.

Mr. Coffee 8-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker Review

Ok, I have owned thermal coffee makers before, so I am used to how they work. If you have any issues with the lid, read the manual and do not complain about it. These reviews about how the lid is not easy to work and that the coffee spills all over is purely based on people who are lazy, and/or do not follow directions. If you simply close the lid all the way before you brew, NOTHING will spill and all of the coffee will go into the carafe. Also, if you need extremely hot coffee when you drink it, then preheat the carafe with hot water before you brew the coffee. If not, your coffee will still be pretty hot, but not scalding like normal warming plate coffee makers. By the way, warming plate coffee makers always overcook the coffee and make it stale 99% of the time. I prefer a bit less hot coffee where the taste is still in tact. The coffee tastes wonderful in this coffee maker, and is just as good as most of the $100 to $199 coffee makers. This thing is very compact, and not as tall as other thermal coffee makers. The brew process is slower than other coffee makers, but this is how it should be. You want the full flavor of the coffee, not just a hint of it with boiling water added. Not all things need to be so expedient. Waiting for a nice cup of brewed coffee in this machine is worth it. But if you cannot wait and need it right away, set the timer and wake up to hot coffee waiting for your drinking enjoyment.
So in a nutshell, if you have never owned a thermal coffee maker, read the directions. If you have problems with the lid or the temperature not being 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, don't buy it. However, if you are not a lazy person, am able to wait 5 minutes instead of 2, and know how to line up arrows on a lid......this coffee maker is for you!
I love this coffee maker, and it does an excellent job. The coffee is very robust and flavorful. The machine is very quiet, and works exactly as it is supposed to. The temperature of the coffee is very hot, and is still quite hot after adding a refrigerated creamer to it. I have no qualms with this machine, and the price is perfect for what you get. Please take this review for what it is worth, for I am a very educated coffee consumer. I have owned numerous coffee machines, and this is right up there with the best of them. No, I do not work for Mr. Coffee is case you were wondering :-)

Purchased this pump and it was a good value plus qualified for free shipping through Amazon making the value even better. Assembling was easy although the directions could have been a little more specific in some instances. We did have to call customer support (phone number was obtained online for Troy products) and the support was quick and helpful. The only problem encountered was initially the pump seemed to draw air but with additional adjustments, it worked great. The fuel transfer was quick and we would recommend the pump.
