I unplug it every summer, as it gets quite warm here. This last month, I plugged it back in again and it just didn't seem to work. As it wasn't excessively cold here, the temp did stay warm enough without a heater. I finally pulled it out and put it in a dish of water just to see if it would warm up. It didn't. So, I kind of took it apart (which I'm sure would void my warranty) and the dial was kind of melted-wasn't quite round. I pulled up the stem under the dial and made sure it connected then tried it again. Now it worked, but wasn't at all adjustable, and it was almost too warm. So-went out to Walmart and bought another heater. Am very disappointed-this replaced a cheap heater that I had for over 15 years. Went back to the cheap one...
